ARAUCO products support a number of Green Building and related down-stream product certifications and standards including LEED, Green Globes, IgCC, and the CALGreen Code.
Wood- based products are documented to have favorable properties when it comes to life-cycle impacts, in particular: manufactured from renewable resources; carbon neutral; and for composite panels, typically very high in recycled content.
ARAUCO North America offers cradle to gate information through the Industry-wide Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for particleboard and MDF manufactured in North America. Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) data can be found within the EPDs and Transparency briefs.
Choose VESTA ULEF or VESTA NAF for Indoor Environmental Quality initiatives that call for products that meet the California Air Resources Board ATCM for ultra-low emitting or no-added formaldehyde composite panel products.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a 501 (C)(3) non profit composed of leaders from every sector of the building industry working to promote buildings and communities that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.
The USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system is a third party certification program that promotes sustainable green planning, building and development. ARAUCO products may qualify for use in LEED projects. For each relevant credit, a description of the LEED requirement is listed below with the associated ARAUCO Product(s) that may qualify, along with links supporting documentation and/or certification(s).
Health Product Declations
Health Product Declarations (HPDs) provide transparency about product ingredients and health hazards associated with these ingredients, and is based on the HPD Open Standard as developed by the Health Product Declaration Collaborative. ARAUCO North America HPDs are third-party verified by SCS Global Services to the highest level of this standard, providing ingredient information to 100 ppm (parts per million) for standard and specialty products, including PRISM TFL.
ARAUCO HPDs are consistent with our responsible ingredient management policy, are complementary to our Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), and may contribute to points in LEED v4.
