ARAUCO contributed to “Chile Helps Chile” Telethon

"The heart of ARAUCO is in regions Maule, Bío Bío and Los Ríos. We have been directly hit by this disaster; and we have seen the pain of our workers, contract workers, their families and the community. We have suffered the death of five contract workers and several are wounded, some of them severely so”, said ARAUCO’s CEO Matías Domeyko, who together with Constitución and Arauco workers Juan Carlos Freire and Adrián Villalobos; Charles Kimber, ARAUCO’s Corporate Affairs and Marketing director, and Iván Chamorro, Public Affairs and Corporate Responsibility director, were present at the “Chile Helps Chile” Telethon held on Saturday, March 6, to give the company’s donation.

In addition to the relief aid the company has been providing from the beginning, ARAUCO donated 1,500 million pesos and committed to the installation of 2 emergency housing factories, one in the city of Constitución and another in the city of Arauco.

ARAUCO’s contribution was added to ones made earlier by companies Copec and Abastible, consolidating the Angelini group with a total donation of more than 2,103 million pesos.

Matías Domeyko added, “Our production units have been affected. We have the responsibility of getting back on our feet. With our strength, with our workers, we will resume operations in all our pulp, sawn timber and panel facilities. This is our commitment”.

Forty five minutes later, the Telethon came to a successful end doubling the initial amount required with a total of $30,212,775,555 pesos.
