ARAUCO awarded by MICROSOFT for project completed in record time in Chile

Microsoft, the leading computer software company, awarded two Chilean companies this year for their outstanding execution and innovative capabilities in the application of software tools. ARAUCO is one of the awarded businesses.

ARAUCO implemented a secure desktop solution (SCCM) for the entire organization, using Microsoft tools and the assistance of Datco implementing company. The work plan established for this purpose was completed in a record time of four months, “a feat that has never been done in Chile, considering the size of this project”, says consulting and services manager for Microsoft Chile, Gerardo Riquelme.

Rodrigo Picas, ARAUCO systems manager in Chile, says the company has an installed infrastructure of 4,000 computers, which used different systems making centralized management difficult. “The systems management solution applied improved ARAUCO’s security levels, in addition to providing an excellent foundation from where to manage the entire software, with the time-effective and cost control benefits this entails. Also, the central servers’ software was upgraded to Windows Servers 2008, the latest technology available in the market”.

Oscar Rodríguez, professional services manager at Datco, agrees with the extent of this project adding that “the technical and organizational support was essential. Internally, our technicians got a high sense of satisfaction and accomplishment at ARAUCO”.
