ARAUCO supports construction of Cultural Center in Constitución, Chile

A Cultural Center will be built in the city of Constitución, in Chile´s VIII region, on a 670 m2 lot located in front of the Plaza de Armas, the city’s main square. The initiative was launched by the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CNCA), together with ARAUCO, who sold a piece of property for this purpose and will also contribute to the architectural and engineering studies needed for the construction.

Chilean culture minister Paulina Urrutia publicly thanked the private company’s commitment, distinguishing its vision of becoming part of local development.

ARAUCO’s Public Affairs assistant manager Andrés Morán said that this contribution ratifies the company’s commitment to the development of the city and its residents, from a cultural standpoint in this case and for the benefit of the entire community.

The future Cultural Center of Constitución will be open to the community, offering art and production workshops, in addition to providing the structure for art representation, complementing what already exists in the city.

The next step on behalf of ARAUCO will be to provide the architectural and engineering studies, after which a new agreement between the CNCA and the municipality of Constitución will be signed for the 600 million pesos for the necessary construction work.

The Center’s construction studies will be conducted by distinguished firm Elemental S.A., associated with Compañía de Petróleos de Chile COPEC and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. This firm’s strength is its innovative and quality design in projects generating public interest and social impact.
